The novel depicted in a prophetic manner a totalitarian society subject to class dictatorship, ruling in the name of the "big brother" who represents the ruling party, and builds his power on repression, torture, and falsification of facts and history, in the name of defending the homeland and the proletariat. A party that counts people’s breaths and transforms human relationships, love, marriage, work and family into monitoring relationships that strip people of any exclusivity and subject them all to one system, which does not apply to party officials.

It is a novel that is read and then re-read.
