The five love languages ​​that children use

The success of The Five Love Languages* has been rejoicing. Not only have millions of couples read the book, but they have also applied its principles. My files are filled with letters from couples all over the world expressing their gratitude for the difference the book has made in their marital relationships, many of them telling me that their knowledge of their partner's primary love language has radically changed the emotional climate of their home, while some have already credited the book with saving their marital relationship.
This book grew out of the many requests I received to "write a book about the five love languages ​​for children." Because my profession has focused on marital support and counseling, I was initially reluctant to write about children, even though I had received hundreds of reports from parents who applied the concept of love languages ​​to their children.
When Northfield Publishing approached me about writing such a book, I called my old friend Ross Campbell to ask him to co-author the book. Fortunately for me, Ross agreed. Ross spent several years in psychiatry, focusing on the needs of children and adolescents, and I have always admired the quality of his work, benefited from his writing, and appreciated our personal contact over the years.
Just as the original Love Languages ​​book helped so many people in their marital relationships, I hope and pray that this book will help countless parents, teachers, and others who love working with children become more effective in meeting children's emotional need for love.
