The Dance of the Graves is a novel that adopts the mechanism of sequential narration through time, covering almost half a century from the fifties, ending in the era of the father Assad in Syria, without directly mentioning his name.

The novel begins with the arrest of the main narrator in the novel, in his capacity as a party activist. It is revealed from the novel that he is the Communist Party, that he is arrested as part of a campaign targeting the party, and that he is in charge of their secret partisan newspaper.

In the prison, he will meet Abdul Salam Al-Sheikh, another member of the party and responsible for the youth organization in the party. He will be very ill. He will meet him and introduce him to himself, because they had met within the activities of the party. They will be transferred with others to the Mezzeh military prison, as we conclude, and he will be placed with him in the same cell to take care of him.

He noticed that the prison administration is keen on his life... After more than four months, the country's president will appear and threaten the detainees with severe punishment if they repeat their actions and release them.
